Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Warriors Table

Ever since the premiere of the fourth campaign, fresh DM the talented storyteller has kept viewers on edge with deep backstory, a colorful mix of personalities, and a gripping narrative showcasing divine entities, evil spirits, and malevolent powers expanding in influence within the urban setting.

Heads-up: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 are included.

The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced

Episode 3 ended with a dramatic pause and revealed the initial group of characters who will split off from the central cast to begin their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

The Soldiers table consists of Teor (portrayed by Travis), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (the actor).

Why Split the Party?

Given a large ensemble, it was obvious from the outset that having everyone at one table would be impossible.

Hence, the initial installments of Campaign 4 serve as an Prelude, intertwining the personal journeys before dividing into three distinct groups: Soldiers, Strategists, and Explorers.

The Nature of the Combat Party

Per the DM, the warrior group is for participants who enjoy a typically action-packed battle-oriented story mode where peaceful solutions are scarce.

Initially, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander might appear unsuited, but the actions of episode 3 make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

For one thing, the team understands precisely where to go next after a intense opening clash with the antagonists.

Casimir of the deceased character—whose death initiated the story’s plot—used The Crow Keepers for his selfish purposes, entering the hidden lair, assaulting the rogue, and stealing all the magical artifacts to dispose of.

The traitor then paid off his liabilities and fled to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, above the city, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.

Personal Motivations

Additionally, each member has a personal reason to depart the urban setting:

  • The rogue, as Thjazi’s partner and trusted friend, seeks revenge.
  • Kattigan knows Timmony and advises that it is a nasty environment.
  • The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to execute Teor and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
  • But, their position as important members in House Halovar could help the party reach locations they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his salvation and will now follow him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Lastly, all of them are sought by the powers that govern the city for a range of causes, making staying in the city no longer safe:

  • The rogue and Kattigan are recognized lawbreakers.
  • The warrior and The healer turned against the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
  • Teor is wanted dead by House Halovar.

This leaves them no alternative but to head to the northern region in pursuit of the traitor.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will not appear the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to form the Seekers and Strategists groups.

Audiences can expect discovering which adventurers will be where in Campaign 4’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
